Flexible Connection Control for Multimedia Broadband Networks

چکیده

In order to offer multimedia services to the user, a powerful signaling system for broadband networks is required. Our work aims at an overall signaling architecture with totally independent call and connection control. This paper focusses on MCMP (multicast connection management protocol), a connection control solution that can be used in this context. MCMP offers a uniform interface to the terminals and network nodes. Its distinction between signaling and transport entities allows the mapping to different broadband technologies. Multicast connections can be controlled dynamically. This includes the change of topology and QoS parameters of the connections during their lifetime. Multicast routing is done by a distributed shortest path tree based solution, which has several advantages over Steiner tree routing.

Terminal Mobility in Broadband Networks

The convergence of telecommunications, computing and content industries has been one of the major trends during the recent years. The convergence has lead to the creation of a wide range of multimedia services which are available in digital form through broadband networks. In this paper we consider implications of this development to the connection control of mobile multimedia services when ter...

Traffic Analysis of Multimedia Services in Broadband Cellular Networks

The enormous development of wireless multimedia communication techniques requires new modeling methods. In this paper a novel analytical technique is presented, to examine wireless networks with multiple connection types that may change their generated traffic in time. By our method call-level system parameters can be calculated. We also propose two simple base station admission control policie...

A Networking Concept for Wide Area Mobility and Fast Handover in ATM Networks

Future Personal Communication Networks (PCN), due to the growing user demand in personal communication services in combination with the ongoing development of broadband wireless air interface access technology, are expected to offer broadband multimedia services using the ATM/B-ISDN as the backbone transport network. This paper proposes a new operational concept for such a mobile ATM network, c...

Agent Technology for Connection Admission Control in Complex ATM Networks

Connection Admission Control (CAC) in an ATM network is the set of actions taken by the network at connection set-up (or during call re-negotiation) in order to establish whether a (virtual channel/virtual path) connection can be accepted or rejected. A connection request is accepted only when sufficient resources are available to establish the call through the whole network at its required Qua...

IP based enhanced Data Casting Services over Radio Broadcast Networks

Emerging technologies like ATM, WDM or xDSL enable broadband communication over wireline networks. In future every user could be equipped with a broadband access point to multimedia information and communication data services. Mobile data systems like GSM or even UMTS are lacking in bandwidth for broadband multimedia. Furthermore the raise of the internet information systems like the WWW increa...
